but for myself, i learn english not only because of its importance and its usefulness, but also because of my love for it. when i learn english, i can feel a different way of thinking which gives me more room to touch the world. when i read english novels, i can feel the pleasure from the book which is different from reading the translation. when i speak english, i can feel the confident from my words. when i write english, i can see the beauty which is not the same as our chinese...

大家好。今天我演讲的题目勤俭是美德节约是责任。勤俭节约是我们中华民族的美德，是五千年文明古国的优良传统。从厉行节约的晏婴到一钱大守刘宠，从一代名相魏征到民主革命家孙中山，都为我们留下一份份忧苦万民、勤劳天下的珍贵遗产。老一辈无产阶级革命家鞠躬尽瘁、艰苦朴素的光辉事迹，更是彪炳千秋。中华民族正是具有这种精神，才能生生不熄、不断繁衍、兴旺发达。勤俭节约还是我们国家的建国方针，正是这一方针，才使我们年轻的共和国医治了几十年战争的创伤，甩掉一穷二白的帽子，屹立于世界民族之林。

但是近几年来，随着经济的发展，人们生活水平的提高，有些人出现一种比阔斗富的不良现象，把勤俭的美德当作过时的观念加以否定，以致出现以铺张浪费为荣，艰苦朴素为耻的歪理。浪费的现象普遍存在，在我们的学校里也屡见不鲜，例如：水龙头中的长流水，教室、办公室中人去灯不熄，教室外的垃圾桶里还可以用的书本、文具、还没有吃或者没有吃完的水果、点心、牛奶，扔掉的一次性的碗筷、塑料袋等等。勤俭节约真是一种过时的观念而应该丢弃吗答案是否定的。

我们知道，改革开放后，国家的经济在不断提高，但是，我国尚未达到中等发达国家的水平，还有相当一部分地区是比较贫穷落后的。在城市里，还有许多下岗工人靠社会救济金生活，在农村，还有许多孩子因交不起学费而失学。在西部山区，还有许多人为解决温饱问题而奔波。我们国家还没有富裕到可以比阔斗富的时候，勤俭节约的美德不能丢。作为新时代的我们更应该时刻牢记勤俭是美德，节约是责任这句话。

勤俭是建立在勤与俭的结合上。只有勤奋才能创造劳动成果，只有节约才能珍惜劳动成果，而两者的实现贵在行动。为此我校少先队、团委和学生会将本周定为我校的节约环保周，希望同学们身体力行，勤俭节约。
